Batteries
#61- An electrochemical cell with half reactions.
- A electrochemical cell is something that gives off energy. Batteries give off energy. In Zn-Cu batteries the two half cells make an oxidizing- reducing couple. Half cells are placing a piece of reactant in an electrolyte solution.

Milk #21

Milk
#21- Exactly 1.01 mL to the three significant digits of a liquid other then water.
-I used milk, and i measured it out into a test tube and got to exactly 1.01 mL.

Sugar Water #48

Hummingbird food= sugar water
#48- A sugar- water solution which would boil at 101.2 degrees C and 1 atm.
-Hummingbird food is made out of sugar dissolved into water, so its sugar water. I can boil at 101.2 degrees C and 1 atm. To make this I had to boil the water and it got to 101.2 degrees C.

Methane #30


Propane tank
#30- A covalently bonded substance with an accurate description of the shape of the nolecule including cond angles.
-Methane and propane are basically the same thing. Methane is a covalently bonded substance, its formula is CH3OH. Its bond angles are 109.9 degrees and it is shaped like a ball with three sticks coming out of it. Almost like a sun with rays coming out of it. Its bonds are 108.70 pm long. Its apperance is a colorless gas.

-I drew a graduated cylinder and drew a line where the water was originally at 25.3 mL. The i added volume of the rock at 7.5 mL to the water volume and got 32.8 mL. Then i drew a line where the new water level was at 32.8 mL.

- I found the molar mass of NaCl by multiplying 0.10 moles by its total mass which was 58.48 grams and got 5.84 grams NaCl.

-First, I converted 250 mL to liters which i got 0.250 L. I know that .05 moles of salt will make 0.25 Liters of a 2M solution. Then, to et it in grams i multiplied the mass of NaCl by .05 moles and got 2.9215 grams NaCl.

-Carbonic acid has 3 different elemnts (H2CO3), it has hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. Carbonic acid is used in sodas to make the soda fizzy, it also helps keep the flavor in the soda strong. This is a key component to soda so it can be stored for longer periods of time.

#8- A sample of a solid whose density you have determined. Describe procedure.
-I used a wooden cube and I measured its width/height/ length. I found its volume by multiplying its width/height/length, then I weighed it on a scale and then dived mass by volume to get its density. its density turned out to be 0.7357 g/cm cubed.

#39- A solid labeled with its volume in cm cubed and m cubed.
-I used the same wooden cube to do this equation as well. To find the volume in both cm and m i had to convert the measurements to meters because the cube was only a few centimeters long. I used a conversion factor of 1m= 100cm. After converting all three measurements I multiplied them an got volume in meters. It was very small and was about 0.0000028 meters.

-Silver halude emulsion is found on photo paper. It is what gives it the glossy cover. Photographic emulsion is a light-sensitive colliod, which is like gelatin. The silver halide emulsion is a primary element for a light capture photo. When it is exposed to light the tiny crystals create a "latent image" that is amplified in photography developement. It helps the process of developement of the image that is being printed on the page.
